GLOSSARY
Duplex
A duplex is a building that holds two dwellings, either side by side or stacked. In the records we hold the term covers the structure and the work recorded against one or both units.
Detail
About Duplex
Duplex drawings show the unit separation, the shared roof and foundation, and the entries and parking that serve each dwelling. Scope turns on whether the work involves one unit or the building as a whole, since shared elements affect both. Duplex records often appear with new construction, single-family and multifamily headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"duplex" appears in 8,816 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
