GLOSSARY
Remodel
A remodel is work that changes an existing building rather than adding to it or raising a new one. The records we hold use the term as a broad heading for interior and exterior upgrades, from a single room to a whole house.

About Remodel
A remodel set shows existing and proposed conditions side by side, with the demolished work and the new work clearly separated. Scope tends to be set by what is opened up: moving a wall, a fixture or a service line pulls in framing, plumbing, electrical and finish trades. The term is often paired with the specific room headings, such as kitchen remodel or bathroom remodel.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"remodel" appears in 36,583 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
