GLOSSARY
Sign
A sign is a display structure or panel that carries a message, mounted on a building, on a pole or on the ground. The records we hold use the term for the face, its supports and the electrical work that lights it.
Detail
About Sign
Sign drawings show the face dimensions, the mounting height, the support or foundation, and how the sign is attached to the wall or the ground. Scope turns on the type: a wall sign is fixed flat to a facade, a monument sign sits on its own base, and a pole sign carries its own structure. An illuminated sign adds a circuit and a disconnect to the work.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"sign" appears in 28,918 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
