GLOSSARY
Framing
Framing is the system of members, in wood, steel or engineered lumber, that gives a structure its shape and carries its loads. In the records we hold the term covers new framing, repairs, and the reframing that follows a layout change.
Detail
About Framing
Framing plans show the size, spacing and span of each member, the openings and headers, and the bracing and connections that tie the frame together. Scope is set by what the framing carries and by how much of it is exposed, since opening a wall to move a door changes the header above it. Framing is frequently recorded with truss, beam, joist and drywall headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"framing" appears in 6,187 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
