GLOSSARY
Truss
A truss is a prefabricated framed member, usually carrying a roof or a floor, built from chords and webs rather than a single piece of timber. In the records we hold the term covers the trusses, their bracing and their connection to the walls below.

About Truss
A truss layout shows each member's position and span, the bracing that keeps them in line, and the bearing and tie-down at the wall. Scope is driven by the span being covered and by whether the roof shape needs a special or a girder truss. Trusses are frequently recorded with framing, beam and joist headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"truss" appears in 8,711 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
