GLOSSARY
Hurricane Screen
A hurricane screen is a fabric or mesh panel that rolls or pulls across a lanai, pool area or other large opening to hold back wind-borne debris. In the records we hold the term covers the screen, its tracks or anchors and the housing it rolls into.

About Hurricane Screen
Drawings show every opening the screen protects, the track or anchor layout, and how the load is carried into the surrounding structure. Scope is driven by the size of the opening, because a large span needs intermediate supports or a different panel system. Hurricane screens often appear with shutter, lanai and screen enclosure headings on the same house.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"hurricane screen" appears in 10,102 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
