GLOSSARY

Parking Lot

A parking lot is a paved area laid out for vehicles, with stalls, aisles and the markings and drainage that organize them. In the records we hold the term covers the paving and base, the striping and wheel stops, and the lighting and drainage that serve the lot.

About Parking Lot

A site plan shows the stall dimensions and aisle widths, the driveways and entrances, the grades and drainage inlets, and the lighting positions. Scope is driven by the number of stalls and by whether the lot is being resurfaced or rebuilt, since a rebuild reaches the base and the drainage. Parking lot records commonly appear with driveway, lighting and drainage headings.

FLORIDA PERMIT DATA

In the records

"parking lot" appears in 2,024 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.

A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
