GLOSSARY
Drainage
Drainage is the system that carries stormwater away from a building or a site: swales, inlets, pipes, grates and the grades that direct the flow. In the records we hold the term covers those elements and the grading that makes them work.

About Drainage
Drainage plans show the direction of flow, the swales and inlets, the pipe runs and the point of discharge, along with the finished grades that tie into the building pad. Scope is driven by the size of the area being drained and by where the water can go. Drainage records commonly appear with driveway, parking lot and concrete headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"drainage" appears in 12,998 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
