GLOSSARY

Pavilion

A pavilion is an open or partly enclosed structure that shelters a gathering space, at a park, a clubhouse or a pool. In the records we hold the term covers the roof, the columns that carry it, and the slab and utilities recorded with it.

About Pavilion

Pavilion drawings show the covered area, the column and roof framing, the footings, and any restroom, kitchen or storage inside it. Scope is driven by what happens under the roof and by whether the pavilion is a shade structure or a building with services. Pavilion records commonly appear with cabana, swimming pool and restroom headings.

FLORIDA PERMIT DATA

In the records

"pavilion" appears in 1,013 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.

A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
