GLOSSARY
Swimming Pool
A swimming pool is a permanent basin built for swimming, either in the ground or above it. It is one of the most frequently recorded structures in the Florida permit records we analyzed, and the term covers the shell, the circulation system and the deck around it.

About Swimming Pool
Pool drawings show the basin shape and depth profile, the bond beam, the plumbing runs to the equipment pad, the barrier layout and the electrical bonding grid. Scope tends to grow when the deck, the screen enclosure or the safety barrier is rebuilt at the same time. Resurfacing, heaters and equipment swaps are recorded separately, which is why the term is often paired with those headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"swimming pool" appears in 106,295 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
