GLOSSARY
Retail
Retail is space used for selling goods or services directly to customers, from a single storefront to a shopping centre. In the records we hold the term covers new retail buildings and the fit-out of leased units.

About Retail
Retail drawings show the sales area, the stockroom, the storefront and entries, the restrooms and the signage, along with the mechanical and electrical work the use needs. Scope turns on whether the unit is a first-generation shell or a second-generation space that already has services. Retail records commonly appear with store, buildout and tenant improvement headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"retail" appears in 1,713 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
