GLOSSARY

Skylight

A skylight is a glazed opening in a roof that brings daylight into the space below. In the records we hold the term covers the unit, the curb or frame it sits on and the flashing around it.

About Skylight

Drawings show the skylight's size and position in the roof plan, the curb height, the glazing make-up, and the flashing detail where it meets the roof covering. Scope turns on whether the skylight replaces an existing one in the same opening or requires the roof structure to be cut. Skylights are recorded with window replacement and truss headings.

FLORIDA PERMIT DATA

In the records

"skylight" appears in 5,223 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.

A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
