GLOSSARY
Waterproofing
Waterproofing is the membrane or coating that keeps water out of an assembly, used at roofs, balconies, showers and below-grade walls. In the records we hold the term covers the membrane, the surface it goes onto and the protection above it.

About Waterproofing
Waterproofing drawings show the extent of the membrane, how it turns up at edges and penetrations, and how it drains or weeps. Scope is driven by what is above and below the assembly, since a shower pan and a plaza deck are waterproofed for different conditions. Waterproofing records commonly appear with shower, balcony and stucco headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"waterproofing" appears in 1,363 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
