GLOSSARY
Boat Lift
A boat lift is a mechanical platform that raises a boat out of the water beside a dock. In the records we hold the term covers the lift structure, its pilings or cradle and the drive that moves it.
Detail
About Boat Lift
A boat lift drawing shows the piling or frame layout, the cradle and bunk arrangement, the drive and the electrical supply at the dock. Scope is usually driven by the weight and length of the vessel the lift is rated for, and by the depth of water at the site. Boat lifts are recorded with dock, seawall and pier headings on the same waterfront property.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"boat lift" appears in 10,754 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
