GLOSSARY
Seawall
A seawall is a retaining structure at the water's edge that holds back the bank and protects the upland from erosion. In the records we hold the term covers the wall, its cap, and the tie-backs or anchors behind it.

About Seawall
Seawall drawings show the wall line and its top elevation, the toe below the water, the anchoring system and how the wall meets neighbouring structures. Scope is usually driven by the length of wall being replaced or extended and by the depth of the water in front of it. Seawalls are recorded with dock, boat lift and concrete headings on the same waterfront lot.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"seawall" appears in 6,991 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
