GLOSSARY
Canopy
A canopy is a roofed but open structure that shelters a walkway, a door, a drive-thru lane or a piece of equipment. In the records we hold the term covers the canopy, the columns or brackets that carry it and its foundation.

About Canopy
Drawings show the canopy footprint, its height clearance, the framing and the footings that take its load, and how it attaches to the building where it does. Scope turns on what passes beneath it and on whether it is attached or freestanding. Canopy records commonly appear with sign, drive-thru and boat lift headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"canopy" appears in 6,310 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
