GLOSSARY
Dock
A dock is a fixed or floating platform built out over the water for mooring a boat or reaching a seawall. In the records we hold the term covers the decking, the pilings that carry it and the walkway to shore.

About Dock
Dock drawings show the piling layout, the deck framing, the height of the deck above the water and how the structure is braced against wind and current. Scope is usually driven by the length of the dock, the depth of water and whether a boat lift or utility line is added. Docks are recorded with boat lift, seawall and pier headings on the same waterfront lot.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"dock" appears in 14,241 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
