GLOSSARY
Demolition
Demolition is the removal of a structure or part of one. In the records we hold the term covers a whole-building teardown, an interior strip-out, and the removal of structures such as pools, sheds or decks.

About Demolition
A demolition drawing identifies what comes down, what stays and how the site is left, including utility disconnects and the limits of the work. Scope turns on whether the removal takes the whole structure or only part of it, because a partial teardown has to protect and support whatever remains. Demolition is commonly recorded with the rebuild, remodel or new construction that follows it.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"demolition" appears in 35,238 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
