GLOSSARY

Rebuild

A rebuild is the replacement of a structure or a major part of one, using the same footprint or the same arrangement as before. In the records we hold the term covers work that follows demolition, damage, or the removal of an unsafe structure.

About Rebuild

A rebuild set shows what is being replaced in relation to what remains, with the foundation, framing and roof details for the new portion. Scope is usually set by how much of the original structure is reused, since keeping a foundation or a wall changes the work above it. Rebuild records commonly appear with demolition, dock and screen enclosure headings.

FLORIDA PERMIT DATA

In the records

"rebuild" appears in 4,593 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.

A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
