GLOSSARY
Handrail
A handrail is the rail a person holds beside a stair, a ramp or a walkway, with a guard where there is a drop. In the records we hold the term covers the rail, its brackets and the guard it belongs to.

About Handrail
Drawings give the rail height, its profile and how it returns at the ends, along with the spacing of the guard members and how the assembly is anchored. Scope is driven by the drop beside the walking surface and by the length of the run. Handrail records commonly appear with stair, ramp and deck headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"handrail" appears in 881 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
