GLOSSARY
Inverter
An inverter is the device that converts the direct current a solar array produces into the alternating current a building uses. In the records we hold the term covers the inverter, its mounting, and the wiring between it, the array and the electrical panel.

About Inverter
Solar drawings show whether the inverter is a single central unit or several micro-inverters at the panels, where it is mounted, and how it is ventilated and disconnected. Scope is driven by the size of the array and by the equipment chosen, since the two are matched. Inverter records commonly appear with solar, battery storage and storage headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"inverter" appears in 3,197 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
