GLOSSARY

Siding

Siding is the exterior cladding on a wall, in wood, fibre cement, vinyl or metal. In the records we hold the term covers new cladding, the replacement of damaged sections and the trim that finishes the edges.

About Siding

Wall elevations show the cladding layout, the corner and opening details, and the weather barrier behind it. Scope turns on how much of the wall is opened, since recladding around windows and doors means new flashing and trim at each opening. Siding records commonly appear with soffit, fascia, stucco and window replacement headings.

FLORIDA PERMIT DATA

In the records

"siding" appears in 9,942 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.

A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
