GLOSSARY
Soffit
A soffit is the finished underside of an overhang, eave or suspended element, such as the panel under a roof edge. In the records we hold the term covers the soffit panel, its framing and the vents set into it.

About Soffit
Elevations and sections show the soffit depth, the panel layout, the ventilation and the trim where it meets the wall and the fascia. Scope turns on whether the soffit is being repaired, replaced or added as part of a new overhang. Soffit records commonly appear with fascia, siding and ceiling headings.
FLORIDA PERMIT DATA
In the records
"soffit" appears in 4,259 matching permits in the Florida records we analyzed.
A permit can match more than one term, so these counts are not additive and adding two of them together overstates the total.
